We spend so much time trying to get better, gain recognition or climb the ladder. How should we think about our time at work, and is it possible to be happier doing it? Jamie’s got some ideas, a microphone and your undivided attention to pitch you how you might do the best work of your life.

For my talk at Grok 2023, I spoke about working with intention. I covered my work at Stripe, Notion and Big Spaceship from the perspective of craftsmanship. My past has been filled with great designers and artists collaborating together, and I unpacked both what I felt made them great and how we made greatness together. I also cited examples that inspired me, such as “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”. My pitch to the audience was to consider the requirements they need to make the best work of their lives. For me, that’s anywhere with talented individuals having fun in a low-stress, inclusive environment.
